Watches & Wonders 2025: New releases from Rolex

The Watches & Wonders 2025 is casting its shadow ahead and the new releases of the fair are eagerly awaited. This year, Rolex, Cartier, IWC, Tudor, and many other manufacturers will present inspiring models. There will be selective changes to the existing collection, but also completely new watches on the market.

Pure anticipation: The Watches & Wonders 2025

The excitement is rising! From April 5 to 7, 2025 the prestigious fair "Watches & Wonders" in Geneva will open its doors to the general public, after professionals have already enjoyed the latest watch creations. And what can we expect? No less than 60 exhibiting brands, including seven exciting newcomers, will set the world of luxury watches into a bright excitement.

Unlike in the automotive industry, where prototypes are spotted months before market launch, watch manufacturers shroud themselves in mysterious silence. This aura of exclusivity and the associated anticipation make the charm of the watch world. The “Watches & Wonders” is the epicenter of the revelations.

A look into the crystal ball: Trend forecasts for 2025

We have gathered various rumors and trends from Reddit, forums, magazines, and YouTubers/bloggers to provide an outlook on the Watches & Wonders 2025 .

After last year’s fair was dominated by the color green, fabric and rubber straps as well as smaller case sizes, the following features could bring fresh wind to the industry this year or continue last year’s trend:

  • Pink Dials: Contrary to some predictions, pink could remain a highlight in 2025. The “ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition” by Oris has already shown that a touch of nostalgia and a strong raspberry pink can captivate.
  • Color explosion: Dare to be colorful! We expect brands to leave their traditional color palettes and experiment with unconventional, trendy shades.
  • Material and color in harmony: The combination of color and material will be intensified. Dials made of gemstones like malachite or lapis lazuli could be seen more frequently.
  • Small sizes, big impact: The trend towards smaller and asymmetrical cases continues. Models like the legendary Cartier Crash prove that extraordinary shapes attract attention.

Rolex in anniversary fever: Speculations about new models

Not only the brand Rolex is celebrating its 120th birthday – some models also have an anniversary. Therefore, quite a lot can be expected again from the world’s most famous luxury watch brand.

  • 70 years GMT-Master: An anniversary that must be celebrated! The GMT-Master, first introduced in 1955, could surprise with a “Coke” variant and a new color combination for the bezel. A model that would compete with the “Pepsi” in-house and finally satisfy the desires of many fans. Furthermore, rumors keep circulating about a “Blueberry” variant with a blue ceramic bezel and blue dial. There is also talk of a GMT-Master II “Sprite” variant, which carries the crown on the right side and is adorned with a green dial for the anniversary – basically a GMT-Master II with a green-black bezel and green dial. So a mix of “Sprite” and “Hulk”? We will see.
  • Noble Dials: The “Perpetual 1908” could cause a stir with dials made of stone, similar to the Day-Date collection. Rolex is focusing again more on understatement, high watchmaking art, and less sportiness with the 1908. This orientation could attract more attention through colorful dials. As already achieved with the Bubble Dial Oyster Perpetual or Puzzle Dial Day-Date . Only the stone dials would be more noble and thus more fitting for the rather classic 1908 line.
  • Sea-Dweller Update: The Sea-Dweller could receive an update after a long time. A variant in titanium would be obvious to emphasize the sportiness and professional claim of the dive watch. At the same time, Rolex would increase the distance to the Submariner but bring the Sea-Dweller closer to the recently released Yacht-Master II in titanium. An evolution rather than a revolution. As we are used to from Rolex.
  • Unisex Submariner and Explorer: A smaller unisex Submariner with 37mm could serve the trend towards smaller watches and unisex models. Of course, a wild idea here would be a variant with a rubber strap, similar to the sister brand’s popular Tudor Black Bay 54. Whether Rolex will dare to do this is questionable – but hope dies last. In any case, it would bring the Submariner back into focus for many and make it more wearable. On the other hand, this would counteract the orientation and demand of the smaller sport models like the Oyster Perpetual or Explorer. An update could instead be given to the Rolex Explorer with a full gold variant with black or blue dial as well as a stainless steel variant with white dial. Not unlikely, considering that gold watches have a strong margin and a white dial would suit the Explorer’s history well due to its connection to expeditions.
