The company already existed as a watch shop since 1832. The watch factory was founded by the Swiss watchmaker Ernest Francillon in 1866 in St. Imier. In 1867 it became one of the first watch manufacturers in Switzerland. In 1952, Longines entered the history of the Olympic Games as the official timekeeper and has been present at every Summer and Winter Olympics to this day. Probably the most famous wearers in the history of Longines watches are Charles Lindbergh, who safely crossed the Atlantic with a Longines pilot watch strapped around his upper arm, and the actor Humphrey Bogart, who in the fifties looked into the camera with a melancholic gaze and a tonneau-shaped Longines on his arm.
