Venice Film Festival: Jaeger-LeCoultre and Cartier in close partnership

The Venice International Film Festival has an exceptionally long history and is considered the oldest film festival in the world. For 15 years, Jaeger-LeCoultre shaped events on the red carpet with its own award and exclusive Watches before Cartier took over the reins. The Flair of the Venice International Film Festival

The Venice International Film Festival, known in Italian as Mostra internazionale d’arte cinematografica di Venezia, was founded on August 6, 1932, making it the oldest film festival in the world. The first film shown was “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”. Following eventful decades, the festival developed, particularly from the 1980s onward, into the glamorous major event that continues to shape the international film world today. European acting greats grace the red carpet alongside Hollywood stars, who regularly travel to the fascinating lagoon city.

Jaeger-LeCoultre: Partner with Custom-Made Watches

The Swiss manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultremaintained a close connection with the Venice International Film Festival for more than 15 years. In addition to its involvement as a sponsor, a specially personalized Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso created particularly memorable moments. The winners of the Golden Lion, known in Italian as Leone d’Oro, as well as the Best Actress and Best Actor, each received a Watch from the manufacturer, whose case back was adorned with a hand-crafted engraving of the Venetian lion.

Together with the Biennale, Jaeger LeCoultre also presented the “Glory to the Filmmaker Award.” Honored figures from international cinema include Al Pacino, Spike Lee, and Takeshi Kitano.

Cartier and the Venice International Film Festival

Since 2021, Cartier has taken the leading role at the Venice International Film Festival, focusing on designing the gala and creating the perfect setting for its high-profile guests. The “Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award” is presented to distinguished figures including Wes Anderson, Ridley Scott, and Julian Schnabel. However, the winners do not receive a personalized Watch. Instead, Cartier equips selected guests and award winners with loaned Watches for the red carpet. Among those seen were the Tank Louis Cartier and the Santos Dumont.

Rolex, Omega, and Chopard on the Red Carpet

The red carpet of the Venice International Film Festival remains a perfect stage on which other luxury Watch Brands can also make an impact alongside the official partners.
