With its impressive collection for 2025, Rolex once again shows how the most popular watch brand in the world knows the market, partly creates it itself, and plays with the preferences of watch lovers. The new models embody technical masterpieces and stylistic curiosity – a tribute to the past and a step into the future. In particular, the reference to the past is a path that Rolex has rarely taken before. We present the highlights to you in detail:

The Land-Dweller: Rolex has actually done it!

The rumors were running hot. There had already been some leaks days ago, and at the latest when Roger Federer was spotted on Instagram wearing this new model, it was pretty clear: This is not an expensive and particularly elaborate April Fool's joke.

The brand new Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller is more than just a watch – it is a statement. Designed for modern pioneers, it combines elegant design with a state-of-the-art caliber 7135. This movement impresses with the revolutionary Dynapulse escapement and a novel oscillator that shines through a high-tech ceramic balance wheel. With a frequency of 5 Hz, the Land-Dweller guarantees precise timekeeping to the tenth of a second – and that with a Power Reserve of around 66 hours.

In its design language, the Land-Dweller relies on an integrated Flat Jubilee bracelet, my personal highlight of this Watch, and a newly interpreted case, thus reminiscent of the Rolex (Datejust) Oyster Quartz models. The highlight: the Dial with honeycomb pattern – a subtle, natural look in variants such as deep white, ice blue or Everose gold.

Rolex offers three luxurious variants:

• Rolesor white (combination of stainless steel Oystersteel and 18 karat white gold)

The new caliber 7135:

• Dynapulse Escapement: A completely newly developed, sequential distribution escapement with rolling energy transmission. It is based on silicon components, offers increased efficiency and magnetic field resistance, and is protected by seven patents.
• Innovative Oscillator: Including a balance spring made of laser-processed high-tech ceramic – a premiere at Rolex. This ensures highest precision and shock resistance in combination with an optimized brass balance.
• Frequency: The Movement beats at 5 Hz (36,000 half oscillations per hour), enabling time measurement to tenths of a second – a novelty in the Rolex collection.
• Power Reserve: Despite the high frequency, the Movement offers a Power Reserve of approx. 66 hours – made possible by the increased energy efficiency of the Dynapulse technology.

Is this Watch with a price of around 16,000 euros an attack on Royal Oak, Nautilus and Co?

GMT-Master II: Ceramic Debut

Everyone wants a Coke. But we got another Sprite! That's just how Rolex is. They do what they want.

Rolex surprises with a novelty after all: The first Dial made of Cerachrom ceramic makes its debut – namely on the GMT-Master II in 18 karat white gold. The deep green Dial perfectly harmonizes with the green-black bezel, also made of ceramic. This perfect visual balance is a prime example of Rolex's technical know-how. As usual, the GMT-Master II with its additional hand offers the possibility to keep track of two time zones simultaneously – the ideal companion for globetrotters. Otherwise, not much new with this model – the crown is still on the "wrong" because left side and the technology remains untouched. An anniversary model that is supposed to satisfy us with a green Dial.

Oyster Perpetual: Colors of Lightness

Fresh, playful, modern – this is how the new Oyster Perpetual collection presents itself with three new Dial colors: Lavender, beige with sandblasted effect, and pistachio green. Colors that are definitely trendy outside the watch world right now and therefore come with little risk. The Oyster Perpetual line is usually Rolex's playground – at least when it comes to colors.

These colors bring lightness to the wrist and emphasize the variety of this iconic model line. Particularly noteworthy is the revised Oyster Perpetual 41 with softer proportions and an elegant new clasp – a reminiscence of the simplicity that Rolex masters so well. Also, by the way – the "Celebration Dials" no longer seem to be in the catalog. They have apparently been discontinued.

1908: Elegance in Gold

With the latest version of the Perpetual 1908, a new chapter is opened – literally golden times. The seven-row Settimo bracelet is made entirely of 18-carat yellow gold and gives this watch a smooth, almost textile presence on the wrist. So another bracelet highlight alongside that of the Land-Dweller. Rolex is really on point with their bracelets this year. The inspiration comes from antique jewelry bracelets – combined with the clear geometry of the Dial, a fascinating mix of tradition and timeless elegance.

The watch speaks a visual language that connoisseurs immediately associate with Rolex history: The model name "1908" refers to the brand's founding year and bridges to the first waterproof wristwatches by Rolex. A design that could especially appeal to "purists" or lovers of "Quiet Luxury." I am definitely a fan of this "classic Rolex." A successful change from all the sport steel models.

Inside the 1908 works the manufacture caliber 7140, a Movement with: automatic winding, Syloxi hairspring made of silicon for increased precision and magnetic resistance, and a Power Reserve of about 66 hours. The decoration of the Movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back – an aesthetic luxury that is rare in Rolex Watches but consciously celebrated here.

Datejust 31: The play of light at dusk

With a novel red ombré Dial, Rolex sets new standards in Dial design with the Datejust 31. The face of the Watch transitions from a fiery red in the center to an almost pitch-black edge. This elaborate finish is created through a complex PVD process that Rolex masters expertly. Framed by sparkling diamonds on the bezel and indices, this Datejust becomes the perfect symbiosis of light and shadow – day and night on the wrist.

New Dials: The shine of the unexpected

Three icons, three new faces: The Cosmograph Daytona, GMT-Master II, and Sky-Dweller present themselves in 2025 with breathtaking new Dials. Particularly outstanding, but somehow also typical Rolex:

The Daytona is now available with a turquoise blue Dial and deep black subdials on a rubber strap. So an Oysterflex-Daytona – modern, sporty, exclusive. But also predictable, as it is a combination of the popular individual features of the "market": Daytona, rubber strap, turquoise Dial. A perhaps unusual color combination that will nevertheless make an impact.

The GMT-Master II shines with a Dial made of tiger iron – a natural stone with fascinating golden reflections. As we predicted – stone Dials will be trending.

The Sky-Dweller comes in a radiant green with a radial finish – combined for the first time with yellow gold. As with the GMT-Master II with green ceramic Dial, Rolex also relies here on its "house color"… green.

Conclusion: Rolex remains true to many models and continues to rely on careful updates of individual design elements such as the Dial or case material – yet reinvents itself. Rolex is repeatedly accused of "boredom" due to cautious developments. But does this accusation hold true this year? With a new model like the Land-Dweller? Or should we almost thank Rolex for this revolution? We think Rolex dares a lot by its standards and draws inspiration from its own history. The Land-Dweller is a successful design, the new colors do not unsettle but complement, and the 1908 shows that classic Watches will not disappear from the scene just yet.
